David Schaw knows firsthand just how important your support is. David had an on-farm accident on his remote Station, and had to be flown by rescue helicopter to hospital for critical emergency care.

Thank you for helping save lives like David’s. It’s only because of goodhearted people like you that this work is possible – and we’re so grateful to you!

As you can imagine, David is now a passionate supporter of the rescue helicopter, and the critical role it plays in the rural community. And he’s determined to give back.

So in June, David launched the first ever Taupo Sheepdog Trials event, at the National Equestrian Centre in Aratiatia, Taupo. His aim was to raise awareness and much needed funds for your Greenlea Rescue Helicopter.

We want to say a huge thank you to David, and to everyone who helped contribute to the success of this event (and of course, to all of you who attended). Thank you so much!

This was a massive event, with a wide range of activities throughout the week. In addition to the thrilling and competitive Sheepdog Trials, crowds were stunned by the talent of the well-trained dogs who took part in the Chelsea Marriner Dog Display.

Attendees also sat back and relaxed during the "On the Couch" interviews, hearing from renowned dog trial legends. Ian Kirkpatrick, the legendary All Black even made an appearance.

But of course, one of the most anticipated events was the auction, which featured a huge variety of items provided by some truly awesome sponsors. There were power tools, farm apparel, and so much more.

Together, you managed to raise an astonishing $20,000 in support of your rescue helicopter. We’ve been blown away by this extraordinary support, and are deeply grateful.

Once again, we want to thank David and Sue Schaw, and also give a very special thank you to Yvonne Westerman Bayleys Taupo – the main sponsors of the event. You guys are awesome.

We can’t wait to see what you have planned for the next event!
