Grassroots Trust Rescue Helicopter June missions

The Grassroots Trust Rescue Helicopter carried out 28 life-saving missions across the Manawatu and Whanganui regions throughout June. 

These missions included 10 inter-hospital transfers, one medical event, 10 rural/farm incidents, one motor vehicle accident, and six miscellaneous missions. 

The rescue helicopter was most frequently seen in remote locations such as Himatangi Beach, Apiti and Taihape.

The month began with the Grassroots Trust Rescue Helicopter being dispatched to Castlepoint for a male who had sustained serious injuries following a motor vehicle accident. The patient was stabilised on scene before being flown to Masterton Hospital for further treatment. 

On Tuesday morning, June 3rd, the Grassroots Trust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Porangahau for a male who was experiencing a serious medical condition. The patient was airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital for further treatment.

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, June 4th, the Grassroots Trust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Taihape for a female who was suffering from seizures. The patient was airlifted to Whanganui hospital for further treatment.

On Friday evening, June 6th, the Grassroots Trust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Tokomaru for a male who was suffering from a serious medical event. The patient was airlifted to Kapiti Coast Airport to receive further urgent treatment.

On Monday morning, June 9th, the Grassroots Trust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Whanganui Hospital for a male who was experiencing a serious medical event. The patient was airlifted to Wellington Hospital to receive further treatment.

On Saturday afternoon, June 14th, the Grassroots Trust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Himatangi Beach for a female who was in serious condition. The patient was treated on scene by the onboard Critical Care Flight Paramedic for approximately 35 minutes before being flown to Wellington Hospital for further treatment.

On Monday evening, June 16th, the Grassroots Trust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Palmerston North Hospital for a female who had sustained injuries following an animal related incident. The patient was transported to Avalon for further treatment.

On Thursday evening, June 19th, the Grassroots Trust Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Apiti for a male who had sustained critical injuries following a quad bike accident. The crew stabilised him on scene before airlifting him to Wellington Hospital for further urgent care.

On Friday afternoon, June 20th, the Grassroots Trust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Levin Medical Centre for a female who was experiencing a serious medical event. The patient was flown swiftly to Wellington Hospital to receive further care.

That evening, the rescue helicopter flew to Palmerston North Hospital for a female who was in serious condition. The patient was flown to Wellington Hospital for further urgent care.

On Saturday morning, June 21st, the Grassroots Trust Rescue Helicopter flew to Hunterville after being dispatched to assist a female who was in serious condition. The patient was treated on scene before being airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital for further care.

On Sunday morning, June 22nd, the Greenlea Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Pongaroa for a female who was experiencing a medical event. The patient was flown to Palmerston North Hospital to receive further urgent treatment.

On Wednesday morning, June 25th, the Grassroots Trust Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Palmerston North Hospital for a male who had sustained serious injuries. The patient was airlifted to Featherston for further care.

On Friday afternoon, June 27th, the Grassroots Trust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Palmerston North Hospital for a female who was experiencing a serious medical event. The patient was airlifted to Wellington Hospital for further treatment.

On Sunday evening, June 29th, the Grassroots Trust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Whanganui Hospital to assist a male who was suffering from a serious medical event. The patient was airlifted to Wellington Hospital to receive further care.

The month concluded with the Grassroots Trust Rescue Helicopter being dispatched to Te Wharau on the morning of Monday, June 30th, for a male who was experiencing a serious medical event. The patient was flown to Wairarapa Hospital to receive further treatment.
